Soto Solar was founded at the end of 2018 by a team with a strong track-record in developing and investing in over 1,000 MW of solar PV projects in the Benelux. Based on this experience and clientele, Soto Solar is committed to the development and investment of photovoltaic solar projects in Spain. In July 2019, Soto Solar raised over 100 million euros in equity from a group of international private investors, which will enable its growth ambition for the next five years to be met: a total installed solar PV capacity of 2 gigawatts.

Back in 2011 this team also founded Sunrock, which developed towards becoming the largest rooftop-solar company in the Netherlands. In 2020 Sunrock became part of COFRA, one of the largest family offices globally with a strategic focus on renewable energy.
